Z Energy (Z) welcomes the Government’s announcement on the new EV co-financing model, saying it is a positive step forward to help achieve greater scale of EV charging in Aotearoa New Zealand.
“We believe a core component of the energy transition is a scaled domestic public EV charging network that enables accessible, affordable, convenient, and reliable charging solutions to meet the needs of our customers now and into the future. We are really pleased to see this announcement aiming to help accelerate the delivery of EV chargers across Aotearoa New Zealand,” says Z CEO, Lindis Jones.
The transport energy company has been on its own journey to grow a network of EV charging infrastructure and has previously advocated for a co-financing model with Government to help with the delivery of infrastructure.
“EV charging is still a relatively new industry, with uncertain commercial returns. While we continue to build out our EV charging network for our customers, partnership opportunities, including those with Government, will help us to do this more effectively.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the Government to strengthen Aotearoa New Zealand’s EV charging network, supporting Kiwi in their own energy transitions,” says Lindis.
Z currently has over 170 charging bays at 53 sites.
